MEET THE DJs: TRQPITECA

TRQPiTECA is the stage name taken on by local Chicago DJs LA Spacer and CQQCHIFRUIT. But more than that, their title has become synonymous with curating spaces for LGBTQIA+ art to flourish within the city’s electronic/techno scene. Considering their extensive cultural reputation, with killer mixes to back it up, MAB is incredibly excited for TRQPiTECA to enchant The Promontory on 2/9.

Always active, TRQPiTECA spent 2023 in a residency at Smartbar Chicago while also holding a guest slot on Lumpen Radio, all while hot off the heels of a triumphant closing set at Boiler Room: Chicago. Gigs like these make it abundantly clear that Chicago partygoers resonate with their extravagant, synthy mixing style.

Beyond their craft, TRQPiTECA’s clear vision to platform queer art has manifested in a number of ways, most notably their Queer Pride festival in 2022, which showcased various DJs and artists within the local community. The openness and inclusivity encouraged by the work of TRQPiTECA fits right in with the mission of Winter Freeze, as we encourage any and all to come and experience their phenomenal DJing.
